The STONEWALL Rebellion Veterans' Association's ("S.V.A.") pre-parade, partial line-up off Fifth Avenue is shown on Sunday, June 28, 1998.  Pictured above are (l-2-r):  Terri Van Dyke, S.V.A. Treasurer (far left -- in all ways); Dave West, S.V.A. Public Relationist (wearing admiral hat); Cristina Hayworth (up from San Juan, Puerta Rica); S.V.A. Ambassadress (acting stoic and co-holding car sign); Electra O'Mara (smiling with hair pulled back and wearing glasses); S.V.A. Recording Secretary; Toni "La Putita Vieja" Polita, Back-of-the-Bus Ride Committee (co-holding car sign); Stormé DeLarverie, S.V.A. Vice-President (with rainbow military helmet); Molly Bee Aitken, Executive Committee (full-length black dress with sunglasses on head); Williamson Henderson, S.V.A. President (standing sideways and wearing hot white linen pants); Thomas 'Tom' Robert "TRS" Stevens, S.V.A. General Secretary (right rear, peering over headtops); and Les Morgan, Executive Committee (little guy in front of big TRS).  Ray McCaffrey, S.V.A. Financial Secretary, among others, was with us, too -- he took the S.V.A. group photo.

Enthusiastically pictured above in a festive snapshot segment of the STONEWALL Rebellion Veterans' Association's parade contingency riding in and walking with the magnificent metallic blue 1969 Cadillac "Stonewall Car" convertible are (l-2-r):  Dr. Amir Kurt Qaharr (driving), Toni 'Barata Puta' Polita (standing in car), Tom 'TRS' Stevens of Fresh Meadows (his first but not last Gay Pride parade and he is photo'd rather red-faced, ducking down, sitting so low off rear seat that he's nearly on the floor), Cristina Hayworth (proudly waving her Puerto Rican flag), Williamson Henderson (wearing white pants and animated with "Stop!" gesture), Electra O'Mara (standing outside the car) and Les Morgan (clapping back appreciatively at the applauding crowd).  Obscured from view is Terri Van Dyke (riding 'shotgun' in the car's passenger seat).  This is one of the last photos of the "Stonewall Car" with the custom, vinyl white lettering on both sides of the car stating "STONEWALL Vets' Ass'n" before automotive restoral the following year.  Location of this photo is on Fifth Avenue just south of 42nd Street in front of the historic New York City Public Library.  You can see Patience the Lion (stoned) in the background with a Gay boy sitting on top of her.

Many other (somewhat tardy) Stonewall veterans joined us for the Gay Pride Parade.  Our special S.V.A. guest of honor was former U.S. Congressmember Geraldine A. Ferraro, who is a 1998 U.S. Senate candidate from New York.  Rev. Magora Kennedy, the colorfully flamboyant S.V.A. Chaplain, performed the special "Stonewall Prayer", as she does every year, when the S.V.A. parade contingency stops in front of The Stonewall Club on Christopher Street along the parade route.  The S.V.A. also does its annual photo-op in front of the place "where it all started".  Every year the number of Stonewall Veterans is less and the significance is more!

Shown above (l-2-r):  Former Congressmember and current S.V.A. Honorary Female Chairperson Geraldine A. Ferraro, currently a 1998 U.S. Senate candidate from New York; maricona SW-vet Toni "Puta Vieja" Polita (from Queens, NY); grand S.V.A. Ambassadress Cristina Hayworth (from Puerto Rico, partially hidden); white linen fitted-slacks S.V.A. President Williamson Henderson (from Manhattan, NY) and rotund S.V.A. General Secretary Thomas R. Stevens (from Queens, NY).  As always, the legendary S.V.A. with the famous "Stonewall Car" was the gem of the parade!

Proudly pictured upper right:  The Bronx Borough President Fernando F. Ferrer, as per his request, behind the wheel of the classic 1969 Cadillac "Stonewall Car", with the Imperial QUEENS & Kings of New York's Princess Jenni Egan and Countess Cindy Chan and the STONEWALL Veterans' Association Founder and President Williamson Henderson.  The SVA's bigga Chief-of-Security Amir Qaharr (from River Park Towers in The Bronx) is in the passenger 'shotgun' seat.  The occasion is the parade line-up on the Grand Concourse for the first annual Gay Pride Parade in The Bronx on Saturday, July 11th, 1998 -- led by proud Williamson, the legendary S.V.A. and the famous "SW-Car".  Some Stonewall veterans not pictured include Rev. Magora Kennedy (residing in The Bronx), Bert Coffman (formerly of The Bronx) and Janine Hakim and her girlfriend Crystal Paris (both from The Bronx)!
